The story of Davide Groppi takes center stage in the exhibition “Un’ora di luce”, on display in Piacenza until May 26. Curated by Marco Sammicheli, the project unfolds within the evocative spaces of the Volumnia gallery, housed in a deconsecrated 16th‑century basilica, abandoned for years and brought back to life thanks to its founder, Enrica De Micheli.
This anthological exhibition retraces the designer’s creative journey starting from 1988, while also functioning as a device conceived by Groppi himself to surprise visitors and immerse them in the poetics of his light: a true “machine of wonders” that blends poetry, industry, design, and entrepreneurship through a series of installations spanning more than thirty years of work.
To mark the occasion, the VERA table lamp is being presented in a special Limited Edition for Volumnia, featuring a lacquered amaranth finish and produced in a numbered series. Like a magic trick, switching it on reveals a hologram, generating direct, indirect, and diffused light. Within the exhibition path, visitors can also discover UMASI, a new creation by Davide Groppi unveiled here for the first time.
